ROLE DEFINITION

The Kapton® team is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Manager at the Circleville, Ohio facility—30 miles south of Columbus, Ohio. This role will work with a diverse team to improve our competitive advantage for the manufacturing of Kapton® Polyimide Films. The Kapton® facilities consist of polymer manufacturing, solvent distillation and extraction, film casting, and numerous converting operations such as coating, heat treatment, and slitting.

The Circleville site also manufactures Tedlar® film, Teflon® film and Vespel® resin, and a wide variety of on-site engineering disciplines such as R&D and project engineering, in addition to the 35+ engineers in the Kapton® Manufacturing Technology department.

This position manages the objectives and performance of the Circleville Kapton® Manufacturing Technology (MT) organization (direct and indirect reports). This role also provides mentoring and support to the Production Engineers within Kapton® that report through the Operations team. This group of multi-disciplined engineers delivers the technology and process capability needed to safely operate, maintain and improve manufacturing operations. This position will be aligning applicable site programs and activities with business strategy and providing critical manufacturing and quality improvements necessary to compete in these high-growth, fast-paced markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION

The role will drive Process Safety Management programs and systems to ensure compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with business and site manufacturing teams to define improvement goals (safety, asset productivity and quality), and actively leads the technical resources to meet these objectives. This individual is responsible for the professional development of technical resources and their capabilities to improve effectiveness, as well as interfacing with key business leaders to resolve issues and reconcile priorities.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:

• Drives PSM programs and systems to ensure compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements

• Works closely with business and site manufacturing teams to define improvement goals (safety, asset productivity and quality) and leads technical resources to meet these objectives

• Responsible for the development of technical resources and the building of the capabilities needed to support the safe and efficient operation of plant

• Coordinates leveraging of manufacturing technology resources to improve effectiveness

• Interfaces with key business leaders to resolve issues and reconcile priorities

• Develops 5-year capital improvement plan. Supports capital project execution.

• Supports scale-up of new products to develop identify critical process variables and develop manufacturing capability.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering or science field

• 10+ years of previous manufacturing leadership experience

• Demonstrated leadership skills supervising a team

• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and chemical processes and methodologies applicable to a manufacturing operation.

• Strong interpersonal skills to both network and to be an effective team leader.

• Solid demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to motivate others to achieve results.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and a high-volume workload with shifting and competing priorities.

• Strong teamwork and organization skills.

• Understanding of Six Sigma methodology

• Experience with Process Safety Management

Preferred Requirements:

• Prior experience in manufacturing technology support

• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified

This business unit is part of DuPont’s Electronics and Industrial Platform. Electronics and Industrial are comprised of a number of high-growth global businesses supplying a broad array of materials to multiple consumer electronics and industrial sectors. Dupont recently invested over $250MM to build a new Kapton® manufacturing asset at the Circleville site, as well.
