A Day In The Life of a Manufacturing Operations Manager

The position you are applying for manages the completion of assigned aircraft with respect to staffing, training, planning of work, etc. You ensure completion of the aircraft is of top quality within the assigned flow time and budget goals. You direct the activities of team leaders to perform diverse tasks.

Essential Duties of The Manufacturing Operations Manager

  • Manages teams and processes to provide a quality aircraft through production completion phases per the master schedule and per the budget
  • Maintains quality customer service standards
  • Establishes strategic goals that align with the company, facility, and department objectives.
  • Ensures an efficient and productive manufacturing process that meets Company, Facility, and Customer requirements.
  • Develops, coordinates, and enforces policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Performs root cause analysis as necessary to achieve desired performance
  • Identifies and supplies resources (human, material, etc.) needed by the teams to meet the departmental objectives
  • Maintains aircraft completion performance records and other production reports, as necessary
  • Estimates costs activity (workforce, training, means, …) and prepares budgets
  • Evaluates cost and flow analysis to implement and make recommendations to improve efficiency and quality in coordination with other groups and departments
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards (FAA, OSHA, DFJC, etc.)
  • Coordinates with other Managers so that production schedules and goals are met
  • Hires, trains, and coaches employees to achieve goals
  • Conducts performance evaluations, and develops employees for advancement opportunities
  • Complete projects per the due date as defined by Sr.Manager / Director

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering. (May substitute one (1) year of relevant college education from an accredited college or university for two (2) years of relevant work experience)
  • Minimum 7 years experience in manufacturing operations and/or experience in an aviation environment with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of one or more of the following areas: aircraft interior installation, aircraft wiring, and avionics installation, aircraft structural installation, aircraft systems checkout (mechanical and/or avionics), or aircraft production support.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft production procedures.
  • Ability to organize and oversee the aircraft assembly lines (operations or support) for the activity of responsibility (structure & wiring install, completion, flight line, operations support, etc.)
  • Proven ability to drive the development of strategy and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ethics within the staff and the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve set goals
  • Demonstrated ability in reporting on key production metrics with an action plan to achieve desired goals
  • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, researching, and organizing to achieve solutions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be able to climb in and out of aircraft and walk distances between hangars with or without reasonable accommodation
