Job Summary

Milling Machine Operator

Industrial manufacturer is looking for a reliable, logical and motivated self-starter to join the firm. We are seeking individuals with experience working with small to large steel and bronze parts to be worked on Milling Machine. Also knowledge of keyseater, broach and to help with other shop responsibilities including shipping, grinding, cleaning and polishing parts, sharpening tools, will train someone who has basic machining skills. Expected to be able to work with supervision initially but can operate with minimal guidance.

Basic Job Description / Duties:Responsible for Milling machine, keyseating, drilling, tapping, broaching, hand grinding, operation of electric hand tools including drills and saws for shipping parts, helping clean and setup machines. This is a position that requires a level of organization and planning and the ability to communicate with the engineer and all machinists to effectively manage projects.

Will use micrometers, tapes, calipers and other inspection devices to ensure quality.

Will be required to operate overhead crane for moving work pieces on and off machines and throughout the workflow process.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for grinding and polishing work to meet customer and company finish requirements.

May be required to track jobs via company job process tracking software.

Flexibility and desire to work on other projects and tasks as required and assigned.

Maintain machines and work in a clean and safe manner.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications:

Must be reliable and able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company’s time keeping policies and all other company policies.

5 to 10 years of relevant work experience as a machinist.

Must be proficient in reading and understanding blueprints.

Knowledgeable in machining practice for various materials (i.e. steels, bronze, nylon etc), in particular with amount of material that can safely and effectively be removed quickly.Must be proficient in basic shop math.

Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull/ position parts and components.

Must be able to climb onto work surfaces.

Must be able to maintain machines that are worked on.

Must be able to work in a team environment.

Must be dedicated to working safely.

Must be receptive to constructive feedback.

Must demonstrate pride in workmanship and maintaining high quality standards.

Must be able to stand for entire work shift. Ability to work overtime when required to fulfill shop needs and customer orders a must.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
