Summary: The Manager, Lacrosse Operations is the engine that makes the team go. An essential member of the organization, this person will work with the Team President and General Manager/Head Coach to help the Wings grow the sport of lacrosse in the Philadelphia area and put a winning team on the floor. They will be instrumental in ensuring clear & consistent communication between the Lacrosse and Business departments throughout the year and serve as the primary point of contact for the players as it relates non-gameplay matters. They will be directly responsible for ensuring all members of the Team’s traveling party are properly scheduled for all trips, while proactively developing solutions & contingency plans for issues that may arise. Simultaneously, this person will be accountable for ensuring that all business goals of the Lacrosse Operations are achieved in a fiscally responsible manner. They will work to establish relationships in the local lacrosse market and play an integral role in shaping the future of the Wings lacrosse ecosystem in Greater Philadelphia. This includes oversight of the Wings’ youth & box developmental programs. Lastly, this individual travels with the team throughout Training Camp, the Regular Season, and Playoffs. The Manager, Lacrosse Operations has one full-time direct report, and up to four part-time direct reports during the season.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented with ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and related applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must be willing to work collaboratively across multiple departments
- Willing and able to travel to/from both the Business office at the Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia, PA) and the Wings Training Center (Voorhees, NJ)
- Valid passport is required
- A background in lacrosse is strongly preferred, but not required
Description/Duties
- Serve as team liaison and help assist the GM and AGM with player related activities. This may include, but is not limited to, building team itineraries, scheduling shoot arounds, advising on salary cap matters, sourcing & coordinating travel arrangements (domestic & international), and helping players navigate Philadelphia.
- Implement best business practices when executing all team travel arrangements
- Manage the Team Support Staff including trainer(s), doctors, and equipment manager
- Oversee the operations and P&L of the Wings Training Center and staff
- Lead the planning, scheduling, promotion, selection, and coaching of the Junior Wings teams/program, and serve as the chief architect of the new Summer Box Development League launching in 2024.
- Serve as internal point person for Finance & Accounting departments as it relates to player compensation matters
- Maintain long-range projections and forecasts of player payroll & luxury tax implications
- Work with corporate partnerships team to execute all team-related deals
- Serve on the team bench during games and operate one of the bench doors
- Assist with scheduling players for community and press appearances
- Build relationships in the lacrosse community that result in additional opportunities for the Wings brand at-large
