Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking Manager of Training and Employee Development for University Finance and Administration (UFA) Project Management Office (PMO). Reporting to the Associate VP, UFA PMO, the Manager of Training and Employee Development is responsible for creating and executing an organizational learning strategy; managing and supporting the assessment of organizational needs; and for the design, implementation and evaluation of programs that foster the professional development and continuous learning of staff, supervisors and emerging leaders.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Ensures the implementation of a comprehensive, cohesive and effective training program both within and across all the projects and initiatives within the UFA PMO in support of the University’s Cornerstone initiative to transform all administrative and students systems to the Cloud.
  • Oversees all training efforts related to the University’s Administrative and Student Systems Refresh Initiative (Cornerstone) and offers guidance, expertise, and support to trainers and the training process that is being developed and implemented, both internally and externally, through the UFA PMO, ensuring exceptional service delivery standards. This training is crucial to the successful implementation of the change management and engagement strategies developed in both the Business Process Reviews and System Implementation projects.
  • Creates and executes a learning strategy for University Finance and Administration (UFA).
  • Works with UFA and universitywide leadership and functional areas, stakeholders, external vendors, and University partners in establishing, directing, and achieving strategic training and employee development objectives.
  • Manages and supports the assessment of organizational needs; and the design implementation and evaluation of programs that foster the professional development and continuous learning of staff, supervisors and emerging leaders.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Associate VP UFA PMO, and UFA leadership, on employee development matters essential to the strategic priorities of the division.
  • Ensures that programs and initiatives maximize employees’ potential and help them amplify their contributions in furtherance of the success of UFA and the University.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and complex environment and knows how to translate business needs and priorities into the strategy, goals and objectives for training and organizational effectiveness.
  • Responsible for collaborating with relevant teams in designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive communications and change management plans to promote and apprise managers and employees of training and development philosophy, policies, programs and initiatives.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and information sharing across the multiple projects and works in concert with project champions and other campus partners to support and advance key Universitywide initiatives.
  • Serves on committees, participates in special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the development and delivery of training materials, in training, education, and staff development.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to be cooperative and responsive, display personal initiative, and follow-through to work effectively with both project stakeholders and University faculty and staff.
  • Must be highly skilled in facilitation, consulting and relationship building.
  • Requires an understanding of the complexities of Higher Education and in particular an understanding of the issues and challenges that face public universities.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience in a higher education environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Training for large scale, enterprise-wide initiatives.
