Maintenance Mechanic – Sunday Only - Day Shift (6:00am-6:00pm)

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining equipment and facilities to operate in the safest and most productive condition to support production strategies and allow for steady reliability of bakery equipment. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical ability and the ability to multi-task. Hourly rate will be determined by experience, education, and skills test evaluation.

Salary: $28-35/hour

Shift: Day, 6am-6pm. Sunday Only.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Respond to maintenance calls and work safely and urgently to get any equipment back up and running while balancing a workload of work orders that include, but are not limited to: Preventative Maintenance (PM), inspections, corrective repairs, and special projects/equipment rebuilds.

• Understand and adhere to governmental regulatory programs and policies. These may include but are not limited to: National Electrical Code, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Uniform Building Code (UBC) and local government environmental agency policies.

• Practice and comply with all bakery and maintenance department safety procedures, including but not limited to: Lock-Out-Tag-Out; Arc Flash and Hot Work Permits.

• Follow all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMP's) for Carolina Foods.

• Understand and interpret technical documents and diagrams which include but are not limited to: equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, Single Line Electrical Drawings, mechanical and electrical equipment schematics, pneumatics, hydraulics, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's), etc.

• Utilize root cause analysis in a team environment to identify and resolve equipment issues and breakdowns in order to prevent recurrence of failures.

• Inspect machines, develop repair lists and identify short-term and long-term repairs so that machines run correctly.

• Assist in training bakery personnel in the proper use of equipment and facilities when necessary.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time including climbing, bending, stooping and kneeling in order to move and work around equipment.

Ability to work in an environment that has high temperatures, humidity, loud equipment and slippery surfaces.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED; a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility performing mechanical and/or electrical inspections, troubleshooting and repairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Preferred Qualifications:

- College or formal technical school education with demonstrated aptitude and skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and welding techniques.

- One to two years in food manufacturing environment

- Mechanical or electrical certifications/licenses
