Pay Grade: 5
Reports to: Executive Director of Facilities Services
Day Per Year: (Compensated for 260 days which includes 10 holidays, and 10 vacation days)

PRIMARY PURPOSE
: Perform skilled maintenance and repair in the area of specialization and assist with general maintenance as needed throughout the district

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Valid Texas driver’s license (Class C)
  • Prefer License in a related field (HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Maintenance:
  • Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools

General:
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
  • Ability to work independently and with a group

EXPERIENCE:
  • Maintenance experience
  • Prefer experience with plumbing and carpentry

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance
  • Repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass
  • Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs
  • Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment
  • Complete repairs and installations as requested on work orders or by the maintenance foreman
  • Assist with the relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, and file cabinets, as needed
  • Move, install, assemble, and repair equipment as needed

General/Safety
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures
  • Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition
  • Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.
  • Work irregular hours as needed

  • Continual walking standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Work outside and around moving objects and/or vehicles.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises.
  • Frequent district-wide travel.
