Maintenance Service Manager Summary:

Manages maintenance staff tasked with maintaining building and facility equipment including responsibility for the extended useful life of all manufacturing equipment through effective and efficient preventive maintenance; assures that maintenance personnel can perform assigned work by appropriate training and motivation; assures the security of designated facility and compliance with all administrative policies and safety standards. Manage all maintenance personnel.

Maintenance Service Manager Responsibilities:

(This description is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continual basis. It does not exclude other duties that may be assigned.)

  • Oversee all maintenance functions of the manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with company rules, standards, and systems in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Manage facilities maintenance annual budget.
  • Manage maintenance staff work assignments to support production team schedules.
  • Oversee hiring of maintenance personnel.
  • Manage maintenance personnel skill set improvement training.
  • Manage corrective action tasks related to production equipment down time.
  • Manage an effective preventive maintenance program to continually improve unplanned production equipment down time.
  • Manage improvement projects involving new or upgraded equipment and processes through advanced automation controls.
  • Perform routine building inspections. Evaluate conditions and generate work assignments to maintain building in serviceable condition.
  • Manage all work performed by outside contractors.
  • Manage annual capital equipment plan including supplier quote requests and submission of requests for purchase.

Education/ Experience:

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree

AND

  • Equivalent to eight years increasingly responsible experience in plant engineering, facilities maintenance and management, or other related management experience including special emphasis on equipment automation.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in equipment automation including communication networks, automation control components: drives, PLCs and HMIs, and robotics.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in project management including the management of equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing principles with emphasis in preventive maintenance systems
  • Must possess all other qualities critical for managerial success including leadership, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment, and determination.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of plant/facilities engineering management techniques; construction and design of buildings and facilities system modifications; knowledge of building and safety codes and energy conservation techniques.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to employees; interact effectively with others; write clear, concise reports; design and administer complex facilities projects; provide in-house training of personnel; be flexible in work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
