Job description
The QUIKRETE Companies, the leading producer of packaged concrete and related products, has an immediate opening for a dependable, team oriented MAINTENANCE MECHANIC at our facility in Pounding Mill, VA.
Responsibilities:
-All maintenance employees must comply with all safety procedures including Lock-Out/Tag-Out at all times.
-Maintain, repair, and overhaul production machinery and equipment by performing daily/scheduled electrical and mechanical evaluations.
-Install, relocate and/or remove equipment, troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
-Must keep all areas clean and free of hazards by performing housekeeping duties in the maintenance area and in all areas worked.
-Must be able to work in severe hot & cold conditions for extended periods of time.
-Inspection of plant and safety items required at the beginning of each shift.
-This position may also include material handling, machine operation, clean-up and similar duties.
-This position will require overtime and some weekend work during the peak season.
Qualifications:
-Qualified candidates will have a H.S. degree or equivalent and the ability to communicate effectively with peers and managers.
-Experience with arc welding, specifically stick and MIG and experience with using oxy/acetylene torches.
-Experience troubleshooting and installing both 120V and 480V electrical systems and controls.
-Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet wearing appropriate PPE to perform maintenance on plant components (ex: silo, bag house, elevators, conveyors) utilizing ladders, stairs, and catwalks.
-Minimum 5 years maintenance experience in production or construction environment.
-Must be able to lift 100lbs.
