Job Description


To support the Lowell facility objectives associated with Safety, Service, Product Quality, and Profitability by leading the plant maintenance operations. Manage capital and continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability. Develop a collaborative partnership between maintenance and production using TPM and other Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen practices and methodologies to improve equipment uptime and overall equipment effectiveness. The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager and supervises a team of maintenance technicians across three shifts.

In this important role, you will also be responsible for:

  • Ensure maximum efficient operations of facilities and equipment, as well as the care of all grounds and support equipment, through the direction of a support staff, made up of maintenance technicians and the purchase of necessary outside technical and non-technical support services.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise machine and/or building maintenance schedules and activities.
  • Drive execution of maintenance improvement plans, help set operations improvement goals, ensure priorities and accountabilities are clear, provide resources and remove obstacles to ensure success.
  • Recommend equipment modification for upgrades.
  • Set priorities for projects and work orders, track progress and completion.
  • Enforce safety and housekeeping practices
  • Plan, coordinate and schedule the maintenance technicians
  • Coordinate all ordering of parts and services that will maintain or improve the machine/facility cost effectively.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of files, parts and shop area.
  • Understand and implement those ISO 9000 procedures that relate to the role and responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager position.
  • Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, etc.
  • Responsible for training and development of maintenance technicians, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering or related majors.
  • 6+ years of industrial maintenance or engineering experience, with 3+ years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • 6+ years experience with controls, instrumentation, and PLCs Demonstrated understanding and skills in project management, including 3rd parties.
  • Project lead experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO or related experience preferred.
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and function-specific software.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong scientific and engineering knowledge.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to be an advisor to clients and build strong and sustainable relationships.
  • Skilled in team building and experience in effectively working with cross-functional teams.
  • Sound engineering and people-leading skills.
