The Lodge at Schroon Lake, managed by Hay Creek Hotels, is seeking passionate hospitality professionals to join our pre-opening team! Join our family-oriented lakeside resort opening Summer 2023!

This is a hands-on position, requiring the Maintenance Engineer to be willing and able to participate in the daily maintenance duties and work orders of the hotel property.

Tucked in the Adirondacks, a re-envisioned resort on Schroon Lake will soon welcome families and visitors to a new, approachable small-town retreat. Located within 30 minutes of Lake George and Lake Placid, the Schroon Lake resort will be one of a kind in its area. Previously known as the Word of Life retreat center, the property was recently purchased and is undergoing a $16 million investment in renovations. The new resort is projected to open in June 2023 and will feature 116 guest rooms, elevated farm-to-table dining, recreational complex and marina, and over 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Owners Andrea Crisafulli and Alan Ayers, and Julie and Sonny Bonacio have partnered with Hay Creek Hotels as the operating management company.

Pay rate is: $18.00 an hour.

Job Summary:

  • Manage customer needs by responding promptly to all guest issues, maintain a responsive complaint program and address all work orders in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Responsible for the proper operations and upkeep of all; electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, tile work, laundry, kitchen, refrigeration, lighting systems, and all specialized equipment. Ensure compliance with city, state and /or federal code ordnances and maintain all required permits and licenses for entire facility.
  • Cost effective management of equipment purchases or leasing, service contracts, repair and maintenance agreements, out-sourcing local 3rd party tradesmen, management and achievement of budgeted capital and repair and maintenance operating costs.
  • Develop & maintain preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, guest rooms, restaurant, public areas, parking garage and all other facilities located on property.
  • Adheres to all; health, sanitation, safety and security, laws, policies and procedures in the department/hotel.

Experience and Skills:
  • 3+ Years Engineering/Maintenance experience, hotel environment highly preferred
  • Previous professional HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or Construction experience a plus
  • Familiar with web-based maintenance work order programs a plus
  • Some Microsoft Office skills required, including experience with Outlook (email), Word, and Excel
  • Proven communication, leadership and management skills
  • Ability and willingness to be on-call 24/7 for hotel emergencies
  • Clean work habits with great attention to detail
  • Able to furnish a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively while maintaining calmness, composure, and hospitality
  • Subject to successful completion of background check and/or DMV check.
