Solmax is currently seeking Operator II for our Houston, TX plant.

  • Schedule: 12 hrs shift- rotating every 4 weeks, seeking someone available to work mornings and nights. (7 to 7), we are seeking candidates available to work the schedule.

Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to set up and run one type of production line, including making product changes in accordance with the scheduling requirements. This position is the key position with regards to the safety and quality of their production lines. This position requires a knowledge of the basic QC testing, the ability to identify and diagnose production issues, and the ability to lead an operator I or temp to ensure their productivity as well as safety.

Essential Job Functions

· Maintain safety for the employee themselves as well as drive safety of the operator I assigned to them (if applicable)

· Maintain 5S Program and ensure compliance with all standards

· Operate at least one type of machine and produce the highest level of quality as defined within the quality parameters

· Troubleshoot most production issues and correct them with minimal scrap

· Conduct all basic quality checks; such as thickness, asperity, density, carbon, etc

· Manage raw material changes on one machine

· Set up blender on one type of machine

· Make product change on one type of machine

· Post all production within the ERP system with accuracy and completeness

· Capable of being forklift trained and maintaining forklift certifications

· Capable of conducting all operation inspections

· Capable of operating the rod line if needed

Other Job Functions

· Identify unsafe working conditions

· Other duties as assigned by the operation leader

Top Tier Qualifications

  • Must pass our OSHA basic training course required
  • Understanding of all products, resins, and processes
  • Shut down and start up one type of machine
  • Make QC judgments on one type of machine based on the defined quality parameters
  • Assist and train new operators

Basic Qualifications

· 5 years of experience with Blow Film Industry/Machinery.

· High School Diploma or GED

· Ability to speak, read and write in English

· Ability to enter data into ERP/ MRP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)

· Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, some simple multiplication, and division) required working with product weights, lengths, etc.

· Assistance required for lifting weight in excess of 50 lbs.

· Ability to climb to other levels and conduct work on that level

· Ability to be exposed to heat conditions

· Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating shift basis
