General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Livestock Feed - Sales Trainee is accountable for the proper inventory, stocking, and sales of feeds in the retail store. This role is also accountable for courteously dealing with customers and must maintain proper technical knowledge of products. The know-how in applying company products to effectively meet retail customers' needs and project an image of professional competence. They are also responsible for meeting the housekeeping and safety standards as established by the Company for this work area. Must be capable of repeatedly lifting 50 lbs. feed bags from ground level to shoulder level.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Associates degree or higher in animal nutrition, animal science, Ag business or related field preferred but not required
  • Entry-level sales support experience working closely with farm customers preferred
  • Product Knowledge and understanding
  • Able to support profitable sales target areas for growth
  • Promote company name and reputation in the marketplace
  • Motivated to grow a career in sales and customer service
  • Computer skills

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Responsible for feed store sales and maintaining a high level of product knowledge in order to educate customers regarding nutrition benefits
  • Responsible for continuing the growth of feed store sales
  • Meeting sales and personal KPIs
  • Attending community events to market business 10-20% of the time
  • Work with the pricing team to develop sales strategies to grow and maintain customers
  • Collect market information and gain comprehensive knowledge about the product marketed
  • Processed customer orders received and organized shipments, stocked shelves, displayed marketing materials, and maintained a clean store and warehouse
  • Assist in maintaining the back stock room, cleaning the feed store, and setting up merchandise displays on the sales floor
  • Greet customers as they enter the store and help them to find the proper team member to assist them
  • Utilize the company's POS system to cash customers out or administer returns
  • Collaborate with other team members to keep the store floor area clean and organized at all times, and to be a member and back up to the Customer Service Team
  • Maintain proper inventory levels according to pre-determined Company standards
  • Maintain the feed store stocking and communicate production needs to the team
  • Use a computer invoicing program to record all-cash sales, charge sales, and credits due to customers
  • Record customer information including regular orders into the ERP system to predict future order needs
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with all customers and Company employees
  • Load products in customer vehicles, must be able to repeatedly lift 50lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $18.51 - $23.48 per hour. Note that wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
