Job purpose:

The Lead Employment Specialist (ES) works as a part of a comprehensive team to develop employment opportunities for adults with primary psychiatric diagnoses to assist them in obtaining competitive employment. The Lead ES acts as the secondary point person in the absence of the Employment Services Manager. The Lead ES oversees the Peer Mentor Services, as well as provides support and consultation to other personnel and helps lead barrier minimization efforts to promote the advancement in employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision to Peer Mentors and Peer Support Specialist
  • Assist a caseload of no less than 15 individuals at any given time in obtaining and maintaining employment in the community.
  • Coordinate team approach for development/implementation of employment opportunities (within the recovery plan) for each individual on case load.
  • Provide job development and employment supports on or away from the job site as needed.
  • Develop community-based jobs for individuals based on individual choice and needs.
  • Collaborate with clinical team regarding progress of individuals served.
  • Maintain open communication with employers and outside agencies as relevant to individuals.
  • Maintain accurate records and files of individuals served according to agency standards.
  • Market programs and services to increase referrals to the agency.
  • Strategically partner with community networks to expand opportunities for private pay initiatives.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning to increase workforce opportunities for persons with barriers to employment.
  • Maintain Ticket to Work suitability and provide services in Ticket to Work program as required.
  • Provide consultation to other personnel in supported employment.
  • Assist the Employment Services Division into expanding into commercial Staffing Services.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Five years of experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Special Education or related field preferred.
  • One year job development/employment experience with people with mental illness.
  • Deemed Suitable for Community Work Incentives Counselor (CWIC or CPWIC) certification
  • Deemed Ticket to Work Suitable


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 5 lbs on a constant basis
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on an occasional basis
  • Must have car for use during every shift, and the ability to drive to necessary locations in and out of state.
  • Must be able to travel to any established in-person meetings across state or other periodic locations as assigned.
  • Must have own means of transportation.
