The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with the current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Supervisor, to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, and that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents. As Laundry Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Major Responsibilities

Collect, sort and weight soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas.

Sort soiled laundry, linen, and garments and separate the items that require special stain removal treatment.

Sort, count and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. in accordance with established guidelines.

Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. to residents.

Clean floor, walls and ceiling of the laundry room, including sweeping, dusting and mopping.

Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.

Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants and solutions used in the work area.

Ensure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen is maintained in designated closets to meet the daily needs of the residents.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of proper cleaning and care for garments and linens. -
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. -
Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition. -
Ability not to pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the work place. -
Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of three feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of three feet.
