Job Title: Landscape Specialist

General Description:

This position is located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. This is a hands-on working position performing a variety of lawn care and landscaping needs. This position is responsible for the maintenance, preservation, and general care of all Department of Health landscaping. Work may involve shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, and callbacks.

Supervision Received: Work is performed under the general supervision of the Landscape Specialist Foreman. Routine work is performed independently following written and verbal procedures, standards, and regulations.

Supervision Exercised: None

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

• Coordinate with Landscaping Foreman to determine the landscape project schedule.
• Engage in maintenance and repair of equipment such as power mowers and weeding machines, using hand tools and power tools.
• Ensures safety techniques are strictly adhered to.
• Ensures safety techniques are strictly adhered to.
• Preventive maintenance to avoid damage caused by climatic conditions.
• Tours grounds, including parking lots, to maintain and repair landscape.
• Transplants, prunes trees, and shrubs, use equipment, and cares for turf.
• Provide debris pick up from grounds and parking lots.
• Will be subject to 24-hour emergency call back.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required - * Must possess the knowledge, skill, and ability to operate light and heavy equipment such as lawn care devices. Tractors, trucks, and hand implements such as chainsaws. Must have a pleasant professional attitude.

Education:

Associates Required - High school diploma or equivalent.

Training And Experience:

Required Training (0 - 6 months) - Previous landscape experience is required

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Required - Must have a valid OK Driver’s License upon hire and be insurable by the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health.

Physical Requirements:

Required - Work requires considerable standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Required - The individual frequently carries, lifts, pulls, and pushes parts, equipment, and landscape decorations over 50 pounds. Required - Ability to work overhead while standing on ladders and scaffolding.

Work Environment:

Work is performed on the hospital, clinic, and all other Department of Health grounds. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and emotionally disturbed patients, family members, and visitors. * Work is performed primarily outside of buildings, with exposures to all types of weather.
