We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant who will support the research staff of the Johns Hopkins Center for Women's Reproductive Mental Health. This role will perform technical and clerical duties for translational research studies as well as interact daily with the Center's two Research Assistants.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Drop off research supplies and pick up research specimens from participants throughout the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.
Pickups will include research supplies and biological samples, that necessitate careful timing to ensure that samples remain frozen until arrival at the Johns Hopkins laboratory.
Conduct drop-offs and pickups with no contact with the research participants.
Adhere to times noted on weekly schedule.
Reliable transportation is required.
Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned, such as filing, photocopying, scheduling, uploading data, organizing supplies, and preparing supply packages for research participants.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
High School Diploma/GED.
Some experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
1 year of related work experience.

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00/hr (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
