WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The firm is seeking a full-time junior trader to join an established team. Interested candidates must have an interest in fixed income and must possess excellent quantitative, analytical, multi-tasking, and computer skills. The position is high-touch, and the candidate will be expected to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

This position provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure across the entire range of the U.S. residential mortgage market, and involves collaborating closely with mortgage traders, institutional sales teams, strategists and quant teams. In this role, the candidate will also gain essential knowledge of residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS) and invaluable experience in trading, structuring, and operating a successful trading business.


Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:

  • Research and analyze securities, market levels, trading activity, and customer objectives

  • Perform price discovery of mortgage backed securities and identify relative value opportunities in the market

  • Support daily operations of the trading desk:

    • booking trades

    • post-trade analysis

    • calculating P&L and reconciliation

    • managing trader’s positions including marking bonds, reconciling trade breaks, and liaising with brokers’ middle and back offices

    • generating risk reports

    • ad hoc analysis on securities

  • Other projects will involve more programming-oriented tasks aimed at streamlining processes on the desk and developing analytics to assist the traders.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business or equivalent field. (Req)


Skills and Abilities:

  • Related experience, 3-5+ years

  • Highly motivated to learn about markets/trading

  • Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused, collaborative, and team environment

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high-pressure environment

  • Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability and moral compass

  • Detailed-oriented with strong analytical / problem solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products - Word, Excel and Outlook

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $85,500-$149,500. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
