Job description

The Job Coach supports each individual in becoming as independent as possible in the workplace.

Location:

RIDC Park, Blawnox (Near Penn Hills, Fox Chapel, Aspinwall)

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, office hours. Must be able to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, to meet the needs of trainees in their worksite.

Position Summary

  • Supervises the daily work activities of individuals participating in community-based work sites.
  • Provides training and support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
  • Cooperates with employers and encourages social integration of individuals with non-disabled workers.
  • Mobile crews include warehouse, and janitorial.

Education and Training: Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must be 18 years or older.

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience working a job that is directly related to the training area that is being developed for a group of disabled trainees (warehouse or janitorial).
  • Experience working with individuals with IDD.

Licenses, Certifications & Clearances:

  • Act 33/34 Clearances
  • FBI Clearance
  • Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of effective job coaching and employment plans.
  • Assess individual’s work and social characteristics, such as physical, behavioral and vocational strengths and weaknesses. Documents and records observations to the appropriate Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist or Employment Specialist.
  • Develops employer contacts and markets to employers in a consistent manner. Establishes credibility and maintains contact with businesses and services in the community.
  • Orients individuals to the expectations and activities of the Wesley Family Services Vocational Training Center, and reinforces and trains, as needed.
  • Assist individuals in reinforcing essential skills or teaching new skills in developing a resume, conducting a successful job interview, and completing a job application.
  • Works with individuals directly and indirectly to help them find, acquire, and maintain employment.
  • Instructs individuals in the work activities required to carry out the job. This includes the tasks defined in the job analysis.
  • Evaluates individuals work performance on a regular basis, prompts trainees when necessary, and encourages independent functioning when appropriate.
  • Instructs individuals in appropriate interpersonal skills and social skills.
  • Maintains Vocational Records, Charts, Contacts with Trainees and Collaterals; updates forms as needed.
