Summary:

The IT Server Administrator performs a wide variety of analytic and support functions to ensure effective operations of Alluvion’s IT systems for all departments. The IT Server Administrator will provide installation, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VMWare Hosts and all servers. Builds and maintains comprehensive back-up and disaster recovery policies and protocols in accordance with risk management plans and procedures for the servers and data contained therein. Provides timely input to the annual budget with regards to software licensing renewals and hardware refresh needs. They will help ensure security and connectivity of all endpoint devices such as desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, and printers. They will also perform other related duties as required or assigned.

The IT Server Administrator will assist in the review of new system designs and major modifications for security implications prior to implementation. The IT Server Administrator must demonstrate an overall knowledge of servers, clients, and related systems and hardware and software integration to provide guidance, instruction, and technical support to staff and departments as appropriate. This position acts as a primary escalation point for administration and security issues and provides periodic reporting on a variety of systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Leads coordination, implementation, installation and maintenance of Alluvion Health’s information technology servers and their various components;

2. Leads creation and testing of Back-up and Disaster Recovery plans with regards to the Server Hardware, Software and Data contained therein;

3. Builds a lifecycle management plan for all Server Licenses, Hardware and Software which will be part of the annual budget;

4. Ensures all Security Regulations and Requirements governing Servers are met or exceeded.

5. Reviews Server Audit Logs in accordance with Policy and Procedure and if necessary, initiates appropriate remediation actions;

6. Provides input for developing, implementing, monitoring, and distributing policies and procedures consistent with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; and recommends proposed policies and procedures;

7. Serves as a primary escalation point for current and potential IT Server problems to the remainder of the Technology team and management;

8. Proactively monitors help desk system and actively works submitted tickets, resolving or escalating as appropriate;

9. Tests, installs, troubleshoots, upgrades, and provides technical support for applications and software packages, including compatibility issues, in accordance with established technology protocols and standard procedures;

10. Provide training to users on hardware and software applications;

11. Researches peripherals to find the appropriate solutions to make them function properly;

12. Assists IT Team with installing, configuring, diagnosing, upgrading, and maintaining individual endpoint devices (such as desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, printers etc.) in accordance with established technology protocols and standard procedures;

13. Helps maintain an active inventory of devices throughout the agency;

14. Promotes security awareness;

15. Supports and maintains user account information, including security and systems groups;

16. Takes constructive, timely action to remedy problems, and consistently meets quality standards and deadlines;

17. Contributes to documentation on computer procedures, FAQs, and user guides;

18. Finds creative solutions that protect organizational information yet maximize computer access for employees and appropriate service providers, as warranted;

19. Remains knowledgeable of IT staff’s roles and responsibilities, as well as all areas of practice to provide continuity of services during IT position vacancies;

20. Works with rest of Technology team to maintain compliance standards and documentation in accordance with the HRSA compliance policies, HIPAA, HITECH, FTCA, PCI-DSS, the Employee Handbook, and other regulating authorities and reports concerns timely and appropriately;

21. Crossflows positional training with the Network Engineer and Applications Specialist to provide continuity for each other during absences;

22. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned; which may include but are not limited to directing or participating in special projects and events, conducting research, representing Alluvion Health at meetings and conferences, and attending continuing education and training events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Applicable data privacy practices and laws;
  • Broad knowledge of information technology processing systems, concepts, and methodologies;
  • Independently install, maintain, and troubleshoot issues to resolve common client device and software problems;
  • Organizational operating systems, hardware, and diverse software products; such as but not limited to VMWare, VOIP (Avaya is a plus), Linux OS, Windows Server 2012/2016;
  • Back-up and Disaster Recovery Planning;
  • IT System Lifecycle Management;
  • Automated computer systems, electronic health records, Microsoft’s productivity applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook), and Internet;
  • Understand basic network operations principles and components;
  • Healthcare computer infrastructure and Information Services procedures, policies and organization;
  • Safety rules, policies and procedures;
  • HIPAA/HITECH Confidentiality Rules.

Skills:

  • Install, configure, diagnose and resolve server hardware and software problems;
  • Troubleshoot and correct endpoint hardware and software issues;
  • Basic computer repair;
  • Operate and maintain a variety of software applications;
  • Work independently while providing on-site installation, customer service, and technical installation and/or repair support per department or individual customer requests;

  • Understand and use ticket tracking software and associated help desk software.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

Education/Training

  • Associate degree in Computer Sciences or related field preferred and two (2) years of experience evaluating and resolving server, computer system, and user problems that include compatibility conflicts, application operations, hardware malfunctions, and installing and maintaining computer hardware and software preferred;
  • Or four (4) years of related professional experience;
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center or Healthcare setting preferred.

Experience/Certifications

  • One-to-one IT training experience beneficial
  • Experience/certifications with: o CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+, Server+); o Microsoft (MCSE, MCSA, Azure, Microsoft 365, or similar); o Linux System Administrator; o VOIP; o Windows Server 2012/2016; o Active Directory; o Single Sign On; o Security Certificates; o Common hardware, software, and peripherals; o Any VMWare Certification;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Montana.

Language Skills:

Fluent in the English language. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Working Conditions:

  • Work indoors in climate-controlled environment 95% of the time.
  • OSHA Exposure Category #2 (The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment).

Work Hours:

  • Full-time, Non-Exempt; typically, a 40-hour work week.
  • Some evenings and weekend hours as needed for outages and projects
