Position Focus:
The Operations and Portfolio Lead reports to the Associate CIO, IT Support Services. The successful candidate for this role will manage the administrative operations and overall budget of the unit, with a focus on measurement and continuous improvement of the processes in their scope of responsibility. The successful candidate will engage with Director-level leaders as well as service owners within the unit and across ITS to improve service outcomes, increase visibility to the unit’s financial risks and opportunities and improve the quality and timeliness of the overall unit’s hiring and training practices. A demonstrated ability in project management disciplines such as schedule and budget management, managing stakeholder expectations, holding themselves and others accountable, and building credibility and consensus are critical skills and abilities to be successful in this role.
Key Responsibilities Include: Inter-team communication and operational leadership; deliver required tasks on behalf of the team to the business office, the PMO, HR and other stakeholders. Oversee project management on large complex operational and portfolio projects. Advise and assist staff and clients with budgets, scope and operations. Responsible for the LRP life cycle, Service Investment Strategies and multiple pillar co-ordination. Review progress of projects (operational and portfolio); recommend and support improvement strategies where needed. Provide expertise and consulting to leadership and other units in operational and project management methodology. Departmental operations and fiscal ownership and responsibility.
Essential Duties
1. Lead multiple complex projects; oversee and manage the planning, implementation, communication, tracking and reporting.2. Work with business leadership to define scope. Advise and assist senior staff and/or other clients in the formulation of project budget, project fiscal management.3. Responsible for the full range of the project management lifecycle: discovery initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling, and closing.4. Lead the design and development of project plans and interact regularly with project sponsors, stakeholders, project teams and others in completion of the work and communicating status.5. Review progress of projects and recommend and support improvement strategies where needed.6. Provide expertise and consulting to project managers and other units in project management methodology.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and seven years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Thorough knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and equipment. Thorough knowledge of IT project management principles (e.g., Agile) and software.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Well-developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Well-developed interpersonal, written, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to lead and manage staff.
