Location: Ventura, CA
Reports To: Chief Information Officer / Global Head of IT

This role is responsible for the creation of a compelling IT Strategy, considering Patagonia’s mission and business objectives, current state of technology at Patagonia, and critical technology enablers such as AI, design thinking, Agile, and Web 3.0. You will lead the measurement & tracking of strategy delivery, achievement of mission impact, and business outcomes. As a member of the IT leadership team, the Head of IT Strategy & Enablement will also champion critical new ways of working, lead scaled Agile deployment throughout Patagonia, and drive cultural change. You will create processes and bring the organization together to follow them, in areas including technology roadmapping, IT performance management, technology budgeting, vendor management, technology architecture decisions.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead the creation of a global IT strategy, portfolio and roadmap, ensuring consistency with Patagonia’s mission, strategy, and business objectives.
  • Facilitate alignment on the roadmap up to Leadership Team level
  • Collaborate with global teams to track progress and value delivery against the roadmap
  • Identify and manage cross team dependencies and risks
  • Recruit, engage and develop a talented, diverse team
  • Build practices to track and manage IT capacity and budget
  • Champion new ways of working including Agile, design thinking, and user centricity
  • Measure and report on IT performance, including service delivery metrics and sustainability impact
  • Build an IT procurement function, to reduce costs and strategically manage partners

Experience you bring:
  • 10+ years’ experience in technology, with at least 5+ years of leadership
  • Deep experience in Strategy Development, Portfolio Planning, Agile methodologies, Design Thinking, Procurement, IT Performance & Analytics, IT Training & Knowledge Management
  • Proven experience building, leading and developing diverse & inclusive teams
  • Knowledge of key business functions and processes, ideally in the retail industry
  • Strong analytical skills (experience building, evaluating, and clearly presenting complex business models is critical)
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence across all levels of an organization (incl. Board & C-suite) without formal authority
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Significant strategy development and management experience
  • Must be able to manage a complex and diverse workload

  • Vendor Management and Partnership: Can create and foster productive partnerships that ensure vendor performance meets explicit and implicit expectations that enable the success of both parties.
  • Contract Management: Knows how to effectively manage contract development, negotiation, execution, and renewal to maximize financial and operational performance.
  • Embedding Culture: Can establish and embed Patagonia’s desired culture through formal and informal leadership actions, behaviors and decisions.

Pay range: $186,665 - $311,109
Hiring range: $225,000 - $265,000
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
