Do you possess excellent office and administrative support skills? If so, look no further; this is the position for you! The State Military Bureau is seeking detail oriented office and administrative support specialist to help manage state and federal property. This position is operationally essential and involves fulfilling the following tasks: examining, acquiring, displaying, promoting, processing to surplus, and/or distributing state or federal property for the bureau’s purpose of ensuring accountability. State-wide travel is required.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conduct on-site visits to examine, select, and acquire inventory.
  • Operate applicable warehouse and/or stockroom equipment (as hydraulic and electric pallet jacks, propane or diesel forklifts, 3 axle box truck) upon completion of appropriate certification and/or training.
  • Oversee/assist in receipt/transport/verification of surplus, warehouse and/or stockroom inventory.
  • Merchandise, tag, and price inventory/property.
  • Type varied routine business correspondence such as letters, reports, contracts, vouchers, and agendas from draft or original source documents to revised or final form.
  • Organize computerized and/or manual files.
  • Query for data via telephone, computer, and/or written/oral communication.
  • Repair, service, clean, and/or maintain issued materials.
  • May provide ongoing leadership for a work team with responsibility to schedule, instruct, assign, review, and monitor the work.

Skills or knowledge required:

  • Ability to drive car or light delivery truck.
  • Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required.
  • Knowledge of inventory display methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and business English.
  • Ability to query for information.
  • Ability to make intermediate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to query for information.
  • Ability to type varied routine business correspondence from draft or original source documents to revised or final form.
  • Ability to organize computerized and/or manual files.
  • Ability to effectively oversee the receipt, transport, storage, and/or display of inventory.
  • Ability to repair, service, clean, and/or maintain applicable equipment as required.
  • Ability to effectively resolve problems.

Minimum qualifications:

Training, education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of inventory and property management principles and practices to perform complex work in procuring or selling public wares or property and 2) the ability to use independent decision making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
