Job Summary

The Interpreting Supervisor assists in the supervision, scheduling and coordination of daily activities for on-site and off-site language resources The Interpreting Supervisor coordinates requests, communication, and assists in general customer service necessary for the care of our participants. The Interpreting Supervisor provides direction and organization to the team of Interpreters.

Essential Job Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist staff and participants in creating and maintaining appointment intake requests for interpretation.
  • Manage staff schedules, trainings and evaluations.
  • Schedules and assigns Interpreters for assignments to ensure provision of appropriate language and communication services for spoken languages and American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Monitors the master list of interpreter requests, assignments and performance issues ensuring all information is always current.
  • Ensures and maintains detailed data regarding appointment cancellations, fulfillment, and/or completion in order to properly monitor interpreter productivity.
  • Ensures the interpreter team adheres to interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics.
  • Serves as first contact customer service for issues, questions and concerns related to interpreters, interpretation or any other communication from interpreters, clinicians, participants or potential clients, escalating any issue to management as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Ancillary Services to create and modify discipline specific and quality standards for care, ensuring that standards bear alignment with best practices, PACE policies and procedures, and the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) guidelines.
  • Prepares standard and ad hoc reports as needed for workload statistics, and other related requirements.
  • Plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
  • Adhere to and support the center’s practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Be flexible in schedule of hours worked.
  • May require use of personal vehicle

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in relating to frail elderly persons.
  • Skill in communicating with participants, their families, and other staff members; ability to establish a helping, trusting relationship with participants.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of older adults as evidenced by a caring approach, patience in providing care, and responsiveness to participant requests.
  • Ability to follow directions, verbal and written instructions, and adapt work schedule under supervision.
  • Ability to utilize appropriate safety measures when providing care.
  • Ability to relate to the public and governmental agencies in a pleasant, patient, and professional manner.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously as part of an interdisciplinary team, the elderly, providers of services, and peers in particular.
  • Well organized, dependable, flexible, and resourceful

  • Ability to access all areas of the center throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally, 15 pounds frequently, and 7 pounds constantly; required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds.
  • Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent sitting, standing, walking and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with an excellent comprehension of the English language.
  • Work is generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated, and air-conditioned environment.
Requirements:

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a long-term care facility or with a community-based geriatric program preferred.

Education and Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
