Job Description
The Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management is seeking an Instructor for the academic year 2023-2024. This position can be renewed annually based on future need for the position and continued funding. The successful candidate will teach studio courses in the Fashion Merchandising and Design program such as international sourcing, small business, visual merchandising, and draping. These courses are required for undergraduates in the Fashion Merchandising and Design major. The position will also support cataloging and digitizing the Oris Glisson Historic Costume and Textiles Collection. Other courses to fulfill controlled elective requirements will be taught, as needed and agreed upon by the instructor and the faculty. The start date is August 10, 2023, and the position is available through May 9, 2024.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach undergraduate studio and lecture courses. The expected teaching load is four/four per academic year. Course releases will be given to support the cataloging and digitizing of the Oris Glisson Historic Costume and Textiles Collection and supervision of textile & sewing labs on assignments agreed upon by instructor and faculty.
- Provide service to the department.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- At least one earned degree in fashion design or fashion merchandising
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Experience with plotting and poster production
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Educational or work experience in the apparel design field
- Experience with costume collection management
