Responsibilities*

The position is full-time (40 hour/week)

Hours: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday- Friday

Under direct supervision of the Head of Reader Services, this position serves as reading room supervisor by overseeing and assisting patrons in the proper use and handling of Library materials, and by retrieving printed, cartographic, graphics and/or manuscript materials and making them available for researchers in the reading room. Performs a variety of routine clerical, technical, or public service duties utilizing automated library systems and requiring a basic understanding of standard library practices and procedures. Responds to and resolves common inquiries and problems. May assist curators in preparing collections for processing and cataloging. Back-up reception duties to include telephone answering and greeting visitors to the Library. Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Library experience helpful, but not necessary. Customer service oriented. Ability to work with Library patrons and members of the public. Demonstrated ability to complete detail-oriented procedures accurately and efficiently. Attention to detail. Strong sense of responsibility.
