Position Overview

The Graphic Artist is responsible for providing onsite graphics support for NASA Glenn Publishing Services, including staffing the area during core business hours, completing design requests, and prioritizing work requests. The incumbent will perform other assignments and duties as required.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes and produces high-quality, appealing artwork based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concept
  • Creates accurate statistical figures and drawings that have been conceived by others and presented in the form of rough sketches or mark-up copy
  • Provides design expertise for a wide variety of products
  • Possesses technical ability and expertise using graphics finishing equipment, such as poster printers and laminators
  • Serves as a team member and/or contact for a variety of NASA Glenn events
  • Meets with customers and/or coworkers to understand the mechanical or scientific function or the subject matter of the design layout
  • Tracks and records time and quantities for each completed request
  • Replies to customer, coworker, and management inquiries
  • Follows proper electronic archiving procedures
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable NASA and GRC policies and guidelines, such as the NASA Office of Communications Graphics Policies and Guidelines
  • Complies with all Alutiiq Policies, Procedures, and Directives in the performance of duties under the TIALS 2 Contract.
  • Complies with all TIALS 2 Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in the performance of duties under the contract
  • Complies with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Safety Plan
  • Complies with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Quality Plan
  • Complies with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) Avoidance Plan
  • Maintains regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the company
  • Completes all assigned training

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts in Graphic Design

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience

Skills
  • Has the ability to meet rush customer requirements, while producing quality products
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Must exhibit professionalism when working with all levels of customers.
  • Must possess an extensive knowledge of presentation tools.
  • Has comprehensive software knowledge, including but not limited to:
o Macintosh Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
o Windows PC, Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
o Adobe Acrobat Pro
