Location: Kanab, Utah

Hiring Range: $22.00 per hour to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 4 pm (weekends off!)

Position Summary: This position performs a variety of skilled and unskilled physical labor and equipment operations to improve and maintain sanctuary grounds and facilities. Must be proficient in HVAC to include mechanical, passive, and thermal systems. Electrical repair, general mechanical systems repair, heavy equipment operations, and able to fill in where needed. Oversees and mentors Tier 1 entry level candidates during the performance of duties.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Completes customer generated work order tickets in an organized, professional, and timely manner.

Utilizes heavy equipment to install, retrofit, transport, working directly with the Heavy equipment team to complete complex jobs.

Plans, organizes, and completes a variety of maintenance projects such as heating, cooling, ventilation, and minor renovations.

Performs preventative maintenance on various equipment, structures, and assists in site and building cleanup.

Installs and repairs washers, dryers, dishwashers, heaters, and swamp coolers.

Works with a variety of construction materials including wood, metal, concrete, FRP, drywall, gravel, etc.

Train’s entry level staff in the skills associated with HVAC.

Performs various HVAC repairs and installations: electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling.

Maintain a safe workplace valuing and modeling safe work practices and communicating about unsafe practices.

Other duties as assigned.


Skills and Experience:

Must have advanced knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in HVAC and maintenance and be able to train entry level candidates.

Additional experience a plus on heavy equipment machinery (Tractors/Sky Trak/Skid Steer/Loaders/Semi’s) and be signed off for operation by the Heavy Equipment Team Lead.

Must be willing to obtain a First Aid/First Responder certification. (Training available)

Experience in electrical and hydraulic schematics a plus

Ability to follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret maps, diagrams, and equipment operations manuals; maintain records; make basic arithmetical calculations.

Work with a positive outlook, upbeat, energetic, and takes initiative.

Ability to accommodate changes in work priorities and/or scheduling.

Collaborative nature and willingness to work with various colleagues.

Willingness to learn on the job is a must.

Physical Requirements:

Working outdoors, ability to perform physical work requiring coordination, agility, strength, and stamina. Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 80 pounds); prolonged periods of standing; stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing; manual dexterity.
