Job Summary

The Start-up Technician is responsible of testing operations for newly installed HVAC systems for residential customers. Diagnosing any problems upon start up and repairing in a timely manner to provide top customer service. Ability to start up Mitsubishi Ductless systems, conventional A/C systems, and furnaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a consistent and positive attendance pattern
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical components of HVAC systems
  • Diagnostics and repair of warranty installation call backs both aesthetic and functional.
  • Travels to job sites in service area, work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer
  • Checks in with their dispatcher at the start of shift, before and after each start-up call and a final check in at the end of their shift.
  • Maintains good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis
  • Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle
  • Documents all installed equipment upon arrival: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary
  • Diagnoses diverse installation warranty issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
  • Proficiently evacuate, charge, and perform startup of system and collect final balances.
  • Participates in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
  • Identifies and reports to Installation Manager all potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services)
  • Upselling of Mitsubishi accessories.
  • Customer interaction carefully explaining operation of HVAC systems.
  • Work on residential Installations when no warranty service or start ups are scheduled.
  • Notify management of improper installation techniques resulting in warranty callbacks.
  • Weekend “On-Call” installation warranty service a must.

Additional Duties

  • Observes all company procedures and safety rules
  • Be a resource to other installation and service technicians
  • Responsible for completing and submitting daily and weekly time sheets
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Works as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner to making sure job is done correctly the first time
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED and ten to fifteen years in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information:

Typical hours: Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30. Hours may vary based on business conditions and needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
