We are currently seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support our growing US team. Based in our The Woodlands, Texas office, this person will report to the HR Operations Excellence Manager and will work closely with the rest of the HR team primarily based in Canada. In this role, you will function as a liaison between employee and management to maintaining a strong HR service delivery, addressing day-to-day matter, solving routine-to-complex problems, and answering queries that emerge regarding company policies, practices and regulations. In addition, you will collect and analyze human resources data and make recommendations for improvements to management.

Quadra Chemicals is one of North America's leading distributors of raw materials. We have facilities across Canada and in selected markets in the United States. Our operations are constantly growing and evolving.

You will play a key role in the team and have the following responsibilities:
  • Compliance:
  • Ensuring implementation and compliance with Quadra’s policies and adherence to Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations
  • Recommending best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Coach and train managers & supervisors regarding company policies & procedures and appropriate handling of employee matters
  • Prepare and deliver employee training related to HR programs, policies, and compliance
  • Conducts workforce data analysis, prepares summary reports, and develops and recommends strategies and actions indicated by such data to improve HR metrics
  • Process new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, salary changes in HRIS system, and verifies, maintains personnel employee files are accurate
  • Benefits & Pension: Assist employees with benefits requirements and enrollments, qualifying life events, FMLA, claims, leave of absences and respond to 401(K) enquiries, relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Support the Benefits & Pension Advisor with onboarding programs and any other related projects
  • Culture, Employee Relations & Experience:
  • Facilitate cultural and organizational development initiatives that foster a positive and high-performance culture including employee engagement surveys and action planning, communications, recognition, and effective management practices, etc.
  • Provide labor relations support at the Company’s represented site by developing and implementing strategies for optimizing the relationship between departments
  • Managing employment-related inquiries, providing responsive and timely solutions to needs
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, leave, progressive discipline, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, employee engagement, occupational health and safety
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Reinforce the organization’s core values and behavioral expectations through modeling, communication, and coaching
  • Assist Talent Acquisition Team on recruitment; interviewing, liaising with hiring managers, onboarding and orientations for new hires, trainings, exit interviews
  • Assist the Learning and Organizational Development Team by supporting change management initiatives; to identify, develop and implement change management strategies with business units
  • Effectively partners with leaders, developing strategies and tactics to drive organizational performance, such as improving retention and employee satisfaction and meeting strategic goals
  • Analytics & Reporting:
  • Follow HR market trends and US state legislation and liaise with HR team to inform them
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR team to develop solutions.
  • Proactively gathers and interprets data; identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in providing data and stats for internal or external audit
What experience is required to be successful in this role? :
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Human Resources Management or related field
  • Minimum of 5 of human resources, HR Generalist, general HR, or related experience
  • Ceridian Dayforce knowledge (or other HRIS system)
  • Experience undertaking recruiting, onboarding, benefit open enrollments, and training and development initiatives
  • Knowledge of HR compliance, employment / labor laws and regulatory requirements
  • Extensive US legislation knowledge
  • HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP) would be considered as an asset
  • Strong customer-service focus, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced HR team environment
  • Should be a self-starter, with ability to manage, coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and be able to quickly learn and implement processes
  • Need to be comfortable working with all levels of the organization
  • Solid foundation in employee relations
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Good decision making, sound business judgement and analytical skills
  • Valid Passport: you must be able to travel up to 15% of time (USA & Canada) – including overnight travel

California Applicants: The pay range for this position is reasonably expected to be $50,000.00 to $100,000.00. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.

Base salary is only a part of the total rewards package - this role will also be eligible for a generous incentive program and benefits
