The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level works closely with HR Team. This position serves as the primary contact and supporting representative for ORAFOL Americas (Wallingford Location). The HR Generalist also supports employment functions including recruitment, new hire orientation, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, payroll and other Human Resource functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Process payroll using timekeeping system and HRIS.
  • Assist with managing/tracking employee disciplinary action.
  • Coach, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with developing department goals, objectives and systems across all locations.
  • Calculate, administer and verify pay calculations, research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Organize employment activities including advertising open positions, prescreening applicants, arranging interviews, applicant tracking, reference checks and background screening.
  • Prepare termination and severance packages as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct new employee orientations detailing company policies and procedures, rules of conduct, benefit enrollment, compensation practices and job responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain employee files to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with reporting, maintaining and monitoring all workers compensation case files, follows-up on open cases and update departments as necessary. Maintain OSHA Logs.
  • Participate on the safety committee.
  • Assist employees with HRIS.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with employment agencies to ensure the selection of the most qualified candidates.
  • Assist with administering benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and life insurance. Ensure timely resolution of benefit claims and employee requests.
  • Maintain working knowledge of benefits and IRS requirements to ensure company compliance with laws and regulation regarding benefits.
  • Audit benefit bills to ensure that employee benefit coverages are correct.
  • Assist with unemployment claims and/or hearings.
  • Coordinate service awards, recognition and other Human Resource programs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of Federal, State and Local laws for Connecticut.
  • Respond to employment verification requests per company policy.
  • Follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Adheres to all ORAFOL Americas policies and programs.
  • Promote the core values of ORAFOL Americas.
  • Support Human Resource Department with clerical functions and performs other duties as directed by management.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree preferred and/or equivalent years of experience.
  • Current knowledge of all state, federal, and local laws as they pertain to the human resource function.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Strong PC skills including: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems and payroll software.
