We are currently taking applications/resumes for an EXPERIENCED Human Resources Generalist for the Houma, LA and surrounding area. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:
  • Job Scope:
    • Assists Human Resource Manager in the administration of human resources policies, programs and practices, including employee recruiting/relations, retention, training, HRIS, Benefits etc. Duties include daily tasks of administering aspects for the Human Resources Department and to ensure company is in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Pay:
    • Starting Pay: $40,000/Year
  • Schedule:
    • Monday - Friday (Weekends as Needed)
  • Duration of Job: Temp to Hire
    • Based on Job Performance
  • Position Requirements:
    • Good written and verbal communications skills.
    • Resourceful and well organized.
    • Interpersonal relationship skills (People oriented).
    • Experience using standard office software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audiovisual presentations.
    • Ability to do basic mathematics.
    • Ability to work as a team.
    • Ability to multitask several projects at once
  • Required skills:
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Must have organizational skills
    • Must be detail-oriented
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Promotes, executes, and adheres to the company’s safety program.
    • Monitors, reports, and tracks Incumbent Worker Training Program and any future grants to ensure employees are scheduled for required trainings and submit proper documentation to the program for funding.
    • Ensures employees information is kept confidential to the maximum extent possible and releases information only to appropriate parities who have a need to know.
    • Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objective for the entire company.
    • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promotes a high level of employee morale.
    • Recommends, establishes and implements standard recruiting and placement practices and procedures. Participates in career fairs or job fairs. Develops positive relationships with universities/colleges and the community to recruit the best potential candidates and students to the company.
    • Post open positions on Indeed, LinkedIn, Facebook and other recruiting sources.
    • Coordinates and makes presentations to classes at Universities, Technical and Community colleges.
    • Reviews and screens all employment applications on a daily basis. Conducts interviews and refers qualified applicants to appropriate hiring authorities for interviewing Follow-up with hiring authorities on qualified applicants.
    • Facilitates the hiring process including the administration of required trainings and completion of skilled competency verification per policy.
    • Works with contract and staffing agencies on hiring and transferring process for new employees and training requirements.
    • Assists in maintaining permanent personnel records in HRIS to ensure records are up to date.
    • Conducts orientation and training for company’s policy and procedures.
    • Monitors DISA and updates information as needed. Ensures current employees are “active” in the system.
    • Assists in implementing, monitoring, and promoting the company’s wellness program.
    • Manages the short service employee (SSE) program.
    • Schedules employee training at training facilities, maintains and updates training records in HRIS, maintains training matrix, and prints and distributes training certificates where applicable.
    • Assists Safety and Operations department as needed with drug screening (random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, etc.).
    • Conducts MVR checks per company policy, monitors approved drivers’ driving record and training requirement, and maintains an accurate approved list in HD Fleet System.
    • Assists Receptionist/Admin Asst. as needed.
    • Assists the Human Resources Manager and the Director of Safety, Human Resources, and Business Development with related matters.
    • Perform other duties as required based on company’s needs.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Use of hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
    • Frequently is required to talk or hear and must be physically able to conduct, attend, and actively participate in meeting with employees and the general public.
    • Frequently required to walk and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
    • Sometimes required to lift and/or move office products, supplies, equipment, or gear 20 lbs. or less. (If the employee is unable to lift and/or move this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship” then the employee will be accommodated).
