Program Summary: Easterseals serves 33,000 clients annually in programs across Chicagoland and the Rockford Region in Illinois and Northwest, Indiana, proudly employing over 600 dedicated professionals since 1936. Program Location: This position is located at the Easterseals Early Learning Services Headquarters at 1939 W. 13th Street, Chicago 60608.

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Human Resources and Talent Development

POSITION SUMMARY: Easterseals serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford, is currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Professional with 5-7 years of relevant experience. The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, Training and Development, Recruiting, Onboarding, Employee Engagement, processing HR invoices, Verification of Employment (VOE), HRIS and special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Manages new hire onboarding process and new hire orientation
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately Prepare and submit HR reports and HR Metrics
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Recommends and implement changes to improve the efficiency of HR policy and procedures
  • Maintains HRIS and ATS (Paylocity)
  • Process monthly HR related Invoices
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Provides support in the management of personnel files and records, ensuring confidentiality and contributing to the systems and structures in HR
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Develops and implements strategies to increase employee engagement throughout the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors’ Degree
  • SPHR, PHR or CEBS preferred

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of human resources experience.

Required Knowledge:

  • Experience with a major payroll system required (ADP, Paylocity, etc.).

Skills/Abilities:

  • Expertise in Excel
  • Presentation/Facilitation skills a must
  • Ability to multi-task in a high stress environment
  • Ability to interact with diverse personalities
  • Problem Solve
  • Must be willing to have flexibility with work hours
