POSITION SUMMARY

The essential function of the position is to provide clerical and customer service assistance to the Human Resources Department. The position is responsible for entering employee data into multiple databases, processing paperwork for new employees, responding to requests for information, assisting with payroll processing, maintaining the department’s filing systems (paper and electronic), and performing related clerical tasks. The position works under general supervision from the Human Resources Manager. The position will function with considerable independence. The work requires obtaining extensive knowledge of department programs, objectives and operations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Performs data entry to input information such as newly hired employees, performance reviews, and changes to employees’ personal information into the departmental databases. Provides assistance to employees with requested updates such as address changes, tax changes, direct deposit changes, beneficiary changes, benefit changes, additions or cancellations. Sets up and maintains the Human Resources filing systems, scans files into electronic filing systems, maintains destruction schedule for such files and prepares files for annual audits. Assists with administrative work related to recruiting and the hiring process. Helps schedule and track new hire testing such as physical examination, drug screening, back ground checks, etc. Provides assistance with the review of staffing, time management records and payroll processing.

Provides assistance with tracking and communication regarding Workers Compensation and FMLA. Gathers information and reports for production of records requests. Prepares written verification of employment documentation and provides verbal verification records. Provides assistance with completion of other departmental tasks as directed; completes special projects and other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Requires a valid Georgia Driver’s License and a High School Diploma/GED. Pre-employment testing includes drug and alcohol, an acceptable current motor vehicle report and criminal background check. Preferred - An associate’s degree or the equivalent of two years of college or vocational school education in business administration, human resources management, or a closely related field. Experience working in the public sector.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Effective interpersonal, planning, change management and communications skills; ability to communicate professionally verbally, and in writing. Ability to efficiently use computer software programs to create letters, spreadsheets, documents, fillable forms and informative guides. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with internal customers, external entities, co-workers and the public. Ability to organize work, problem-solve, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to perform essential job duties, reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move 5 to 10 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
