We are looking for a Human Resource Manager for the West Region partners with operations leaders and Branch Managers addressing employee relations issues, facilitating training programs, and providing day-to-day advisory and administrative HR support. This is a singular “working manager” role. The position reports on a day-to-day operational basis to the Regional Vice President and functionally reports to the VP, Human Resources.

Salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 annually. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance to all company policies, local, state and government regulations, and advise management on method for compliance.

  • Support management in addressing employee relations matters, including conducting investigations and recommending corrective action for concerns that arise. Respond and conduct investigations to resolve Silent Whistle matters. Employee issues will predominantly be with a craft labor workforce (non-union)

  • Work with management to develop and monitor performance improvement plans.

  • Liaison with governmental agencies, including but not limited to DOL, EEOC, HRC by conducting investigations and responding to complaints by preparing defensible Position Statements.

  • Supports benefits and payroll in coordinating leaves of absences in accordance with company policy, and FMLA/CFRA. Prepares notices to employees regarding their leave status and advises benefits and payroll on how to coordinate leave.

  • Partners with management in the recruitment salaried employees. Facilitates process to fill vacant positions by posting positions, screening candidates, conducting, and scheduling interviews, and handling pre-screenings. Partners with management team in developing, implementing, and facilitating team member orientation programs to foster positive attitude toward company goals. Recruitment of craft labor is not a component of this role (craft recruitment and project staffing is handled by a separate Craft Staffing organization in the company), but aiding with onboarding and ongoing support and employee relations of the craft workforce is part of the role

  • Assist in analyzing company compensation policies in relation to government wage and hour regulations, prevailing rates for similar jobs in comparable industries or geographic areas and recommends changes as appropriate to establish and maintain competitive rates.

  • Assist the E&I team with the administration of the annual performance review process, merit increase and management development plans.

  • Prepare and execute employee separations, including preparing packages and ensuring the smooth exit transition. Conduct exit interviews.

  • Assists HR team with performance management process (PMP), salary planning process and preparation of job descriptions as needed. May conduct analysis of local labor market to determine appropriate pay levels according to compensation guidelines and policy formulated by HQ Operations Support.

  • Completes employee personnel transactional changes in HRIS.

  • Maintains employee records as required by law or local governing bodies. Actively participates in the maintenance of HRIS human resources module that meets top management information needs. Organizes and maintains records, data tracking and filling systems. Develop reports from HRIS for various projects as needed.

  • Answer employee questions relating to policies and procedures.

  • Manage Local training programs; Foster and support Corporate Training initiatives and promote training system usage.

  • Integrates BrandSafway’s safety culture into Human Resource practices and will also support the mitigation of worker compensation claim expense.

  • Provide Administrative HR Support as needed. This includes employment verifications in accordance with company guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and five - eight years of progressive Human Resources Generalist and Management experience; MBA Preferred

  • Strong employee relations experience and knowledge of employment and labor laws. Requires a working knowledge of labor relations and associated issues

  • Prior experience in construction/construction services company strongly preferred and demonstrated ability to work with both a craft workforce as well as operations management is required
