The Human Resource Manager works closely with the Jail Administrator, Assistant Jail Administrator and Accounts Manager on all tasks related to human resources, benefits and retirement. The Human Resource Manager acts as a direct consult to the Administrator and the Assistant Administrator for all personnel related concerns. This position requires accurate record management and the proper management of all personnel files and requires complete confidentiality of information related to personnel. Key characteristics for an individual working this job include analytical abilities, knowledge of personnel matters, the ability to multi-task, and exceptional communications skills.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Supervise the administration and coordination of 60+ employee’s personnel issues directly related to hiring, termination, benefits and retirement matters.
  • Assists in the budgeting of personnel related requirements and ensures that payroll and benefits are properly dispersed on time.
  • Performs auditing functions and prepares all audit statements related to personnel matters.
  • Maintains spreadsheets and records of all personnel information in accordance with HR best practices.
  • Processes employee payroll, benefits and retirement information accurately and makes changes as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Credentials

· Familiar with personnel management techniques and practices

· Professional minded individual.

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Physically able to lift 20lbs.

· Dedicated to the job and able to work flexible hours if necessary

· Background in Human Resources

· Background in Payroll processing

· Background in Benefit Coordination

· Preferred member of the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM)

Personal Skills

· Good “people management skills”

· Organizational skills

· Patience

· Composure in stressful situations

· Proficiency Microsoft Suite Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Excellent Interpersonal communications skills
