A Newborn Care Specialist is an individual trained and skilled in newborn care. Newborn Care Specialists know the ins and outs of newborn development and have specialized training. They provide unique expertise in newborn care, parental education, and support. Their job is to help nurture and care for newborns while providing parents guidance and education.

Duties include:
Feeding the baby/babies
Sterilizing, cleaning, and preparing bottles
Sterilizing and cleaning pump parts
Changing baby when needed
Establishing healthy sleep habits
Soothing baby back to sleep
Maintaining sleep schedules & Logs
Keeping the nursery tidy
Education for parents
Awake Care for babies with medical conditions

QUALIFICATIONS–REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have attended either a Newborn Care Specialist or Postpartum Doula Training or be an RN with newborn-specific experience.

• Must live in the Houston Area or have local housing/accommodations.
• Previous overnight newborn care experience (daycare, nanny, and mother are a great place to start).
• Infant/CPR Certification or willingness to renew/obtain before being hired.
• Excellent communication skills
• Reliable Transportation
• Up-to-date immunizations: (TDap and Flu required).
  
• Willing to serve clients of all nationalities, races, religions, and sexual orientations.
