Job Description
Responsible to provide a clean and safe environment with the Mountain View Community facility. Tasks include cleaning (dusting/vacuuming) public areas such as lobby and bathrooms, as well as residents living areas, empty trash, clean utility and storage rooms, nurses stations, and med rooms (when supervised), strip beds, sanitize frames, then remake beds, and perform laundry chores as needed. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: *

1. Thoroughly clean and organize all lobbies daily.

2. Dust and vacuum resident living areas, nurses" stations, front entry vestibule, central stairway, 1st and 2nd floor administration hallways.

3. Dust and clean physical therapy and employee lounge areas.

4. Clean and stock public and employee bathrooms daily.

5. Clean resident rooms and bathrooms daily, and all resident neighborhood public areas as required.

6. Strip beds, sanitize mattresses and bedframes, and remake beds, as required.

7. Clean utility rooms, nurses" stations, storage rooms, tub rooms, and med rooms (when nurse is available to monitor).

8. Empty all trash containers and clean as needed.

9. Sort resident clothing, wash, dry, fold and put away resident laundry and linens as needed, including ensuring resident bathrooms, tub rooms, Beauty Shop, P/T, etc. are properly stocked of towels and facecloths.

10. Wash, dry, and fold hand towels, face cloths, clothing protectors, etc.

11. Label resident clothing for identification purposes, as needed.
12. Clean and disinfect washers, dryers, tables, sink, floor, bins, etc. daily.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

1. Attend and participate in continuing educational programs and meetings as required.
2. Perform other similar or related duties as needed or directed.
3. Assist in the Housekeeping/Laundry Departments as needed or directed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the primary functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities and to possess the necessary physical requirements with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the primary functions of the job.

Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Mountain View Nursing Home, principles, policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Commissioners, Department Heads, Elected Officials, employees, residents and the general public.
Knowledgeable of the methods, practices, materials and equipment for housekeeping and laundry activities.
Knowledgeable of the hazards involved and safety precautions necessary for housekeeping and laundry activities to include ability to read and understand precautions regarding chemical/fluids.
Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and in writing.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Ability to read written or printed material.
Ability to write legibly.
Ability to push and pull supply carts and vacuum cleaners.
Ability to recognize an emergency situation within the context of job duties and to follow emergency medical and safety procedures.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected issues.
Possess manual dexterity to operate equipment.
Ability to tolerate temperatures up to 90 degrees when working in laundry.
Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress.
Ability to utilize a stepladder as needed.
Requires performing regular job functions under good conditions in a safe working environment.
Requires stooping, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, moving intermittently and working in cramped spaces during working hours.
May be exposed to smells, dust, dirt, fumes, etc.
May be subject to cuts, bruises, falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc.
May be subject to infectious diseases, substances, volatile gas, etc.
