Job Summary

The Housekeeper/Cook is responsible for any combination of cleaning duties which may include making beds, replenishing linens, cleaning rooms and halls, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Also responsible for meal/beverage preparation to include serving and cleaning up. While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors in a house environment. The employee may occasionally have to be outside in a ranch environment and will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. This position is for a private ranch in Laredo, Texas, near El Cenizo and Rio Bravo. Starting pay is $10.00+ based on experience.

Essential Functions

• Cleans kitchen area which includes, but is not limited to, hand washing or setting dishwasher for dishes, pots or pans, cleaning stove, oven, and ice machine.
• Dust rooms which include furniture and other decorative items.
• Wipes down walls where necessary.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and mops.
• Washes, dries, and folds all bedroom and bathroom linens.
• Replenishes bathroom linens.
• Removes used bed linens and replenishes beds with fresh linens.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Busses kitchen dining tables and cleans up during and after meals of guests and/or customers.
• Develops meal plans, serving schedule and grocery lists.
• Organizes and prepares all meal and beverage preparation.
• Operates company vehicle(s) into the local area to purchase various ranch items such as groceries, materials, or supplies.
• Maintains company credit card for company purchase and maintains and submits receipts monthly.
• Assists with other ranch operations and duties when qualified to do so and upon request of supervisor.

Required Skills & Experience

• High School diploma/GED required.
• 2+ years previous work experience in both housekeeping and cooking.
• Must possess basic knowledge of food/beverage handling, preparation, and quality.
• Qualified candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write English at a level that allows them to understand and communicate standard work instructions, job safety requirements and quality documentation in English. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) to communicate with guests and customers.
• Must have valid driver license and can pass a motor vehicle check and drug screen.
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess ability to follow instructions/requests by manager or ranch guests or customers.
• Must possess problem solving skills.
• Must have flexibility to work when needed (breakfast, lunch, and dinner service).
• Ability to lift items weighing 15-20 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Requires some body motion including, bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, and walking.
• Requires the ability to stand, sit, kneel, climb, or walk for extended periods of time.
• Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
