Eliot’s Homeless Services Division is seeking a Recovery Coach to join their dedicated team of professionals who will provide on site recovery based support to individuals who are struggling with SUD and mental health issues. The ideal candidate will be in or have received mental health and/or substance use services in the past.

Responsibilities:

  • Empower mental health and substance abuse clients to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life. Assist with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure that the client’s perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized and that choices are maximized.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff to facilitate the understanding of client perspectives as needed.
  • Provide guidance to client in recovery process. Provide advocacy, support, and education during orientation and throughout service delivery.
  • Assist client with being able to identify personal methods of recovery from mental illness and/or substance use and to develop self-management plans to address their experiences.
  • Promote hope and empowerment through meetings and support with clients. Collaborate with the staff to ensure that the client’s perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized and that client choices are maximized
  • Participate in the development of Treatment Plans. Assist the client and the staff in developing client centered plans. Assist clients with communicating their personal recovery goals.
  • Provide information and training on recovery tools and techniques, self-management strategies, and, if desired, assistance developing a self-management plan.
  • Assist clients in being fully integrated in their communities by supporting them in the use of community resources, encouraging them in establishing memberships within their communities, and reducing stigma within the community through education. Assist clients who have experienced social stigmatization with their sense of acceptance and affiliation.
  • Provide practical help and mentoring, advocacy, coordination, side-by-side individualized support, problem solving and direct assistance to help clients members obtain the necessities and skills needed of daily living.
  • Provide side by side interventions to clients that focus on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism and encouragement.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and at least one year of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse.
  • Receiving mental health and/or substance use services or received services in the past and have self-knowledge to manage their illness with an established recovery process.
  • Strong commitment to substance use recovery and housing first philosophy.
  • Skills to establish supportive relationships with persons with mental illnesses/substance use and respect for their preferences for treatment.
  • Ability to provide flexible services that are community based and focused on team work
  • Enroll and attend Recovery Coach Certification Program.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with clients, staff, co-workers and supervisor. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural groups.

Schedule: Thursday & Friday, 4pm-8pm, Saturday & Sunday 1pm-7pm. (20 hrs ) Flexibility in hrs but evenings.

Pay: Starting rate (non-certified) $20.52, (certified) $22.44
