Job description
Operates small equipment, powered tools, and hand tools to perform a variety of maintenance activities. To include maintaining the building and grounds at Orangeburg maintenance and District 7 Office. Tasks include lawn care and various activities to enhance the appearance of Orangeburg Maintenance and District 7 Office. Operates a forklift in the loading of materials needed for maintenance operations such as earth materials, sand, clay and asphalt, and supplies. Operates Standard Dump Truck n hauling all types of material. Remove litter, debris and animals from roadway and right-of-ways. Flags traffic during road maintenance operations to protect workers, equipment, and the general public. Performs a variety of vegetation management activities using equipment such as powered hand tools (i.e., chain saws, weed eaters, and backpack herbicide sprayers. etc.) Maintaining vegetation at intersections, driveways, etc., to improve sight distance and at various locations in Orangeburg County. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations; may include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts. Performs other job-related duties as directed by supervisor.There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
