Job Summary

The Utilities Excavator will assist with all drainage/retaining wall activities and all excavations in Raleigh, NC.

Essential Functions

• Equipment operation under the direction of the supervisor
• Bench and secure all excavations during the operation.
• Read cut stakes and grade elevations.
• Recognize hazardous conditions and report to the supervisor.
• Dig around and assist in exposing live utilities.
• Workday, night, and weekends as required.
• While operating equipment communicate with others using verbal and non-verbal hand signals
• Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3 plus years of excavation experience on heavy highway road construction projects
• Ability to bench and secure all excavations during operation.
• Reliable transportation
• Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks (climbing ladders, climb in and out of ditches)
• Physical ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• General labor skills
• Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools (hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, screwdrivers, etc.
