Job description

Amherst County is looking for an experienced heavy equipment operator who either holds a Class A or B commercial drivers license (CDL) with an air brake endorsement or who has the ability to qualify for the CDL within six months to join our Public Works team. Experience operating dump trucks, loaders, compactors, and/or bull dozers is required with experience working in a landfill or transfer station setting preferred. This is a full time position with a required Saturday rotation.

Punctuality and attendance are important requirements of the job. The ability to interact in a professional manner with the public and co-workers is essential. Flexibility is key as staff may be called on to fill in on other equipment or in other positions as needed.

The salary is negotiable based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
