Job Title: Heat Treat Operator

The Heat Treat Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and cleaning heat treat machinery and/or equipment. Operators must work safety at all times and efficiently to ensure top productivity and quality in products produced.

You will do this by:

  • Determining types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment and metals.
  • Adjusting controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges.
  • Testing parts for hardness, using hardness testing equipment.
  • Examining parts to ensure metal shade and color conform to specifications.
  • Removing parts from baths after specified times and air dry or cool parts in water or other baths.
  • Identifying proper racking systems; rack and unrack a variety of parts and safely operate pneumatic hoist through austemper tank lines.
  • Performing clean outs of baths with appropriate PPE and safety precautions.
  • Operating weigh scale, ensuring correct amount of parts move to next operation.
  • Checking Quality of product machined and notify supervisor of process issues.
  • Completing relevant check lists, documentation accurately and timely and per instruction
  • Maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Performing operator maintenance and/or 5S housekeeping per established schedules

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic Math skills to analyze information and measuring equipment
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous Heat Treat experience
  • Forklift certification

Physical | Visual Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Loud (Examples: metal can, manufacturing department, large earth moving equipment)

Shift Hours: 1st Shift, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday with availability to work overtime Saturday
