Full-Time (1.0 FTE) 80 Hours a Pay Period
Minnesota based role, with hybrid work available

The Healthcare Data Analyst will facilitate innovation and transformation across Winona Health by developing actionable insights from available data sources for use in quality improvement and cost savings efforts by our clinicians, leadership and other caregivers to continually improve our care delivery system in support of the best outcomes for Winona Health patients. The Healthcare Data Analyst will complete regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis that ensures clinical departments have the information necessary to succeed in meeting performance objectives as well as guide organizational strategy for value-based contracting. The Healthcare Data Analyst will be responsible for maintaining deep knowledge of the clinical and financial data associated with populations attributed to value-based contracts, and the methods of calculating financial and quality performance under these arrangements.

  • Complete regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis with a focus on bringing insights and meaning to the available data through the use of interactive dashboards, data storytelling, and statistical analysis.
  • Must have competency in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of Tableau data visualization software.
  • Technical proficiency regarding data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
  • Advanced skill in Excel, and proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like SPSS, and/or SAS to provide statistical analysis of large and complex datasets.
  • Experience in handling reporting packages like Business Objects.
  • Speak to data and analytics needs of the organization and work closely with Information Systems and Leadership to improve our processes, methodologies, analytics tools/applications and data science models.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare operations and systems, working experience in healthcare data analysis, familiarity with claims and clinical datasets.
  • Passion for making an impact in healthcare.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Mathematics, Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Work experience in healthcare data analysis is acceptable in lieu of Bachelor’s degree requirements.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
  • Understanding of healthcare operations and systems, proven working experience in healthcare data analysis, familiarity with financial, claims and clinical datasets
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills to help collect, assess quality, measure, organize and analyze data.
  • Adept at queries, writing reports, developing visualizations or dashboards and making presentations on findings.
  • Ability to communicate collaboratively in a team while managing multiple priorities is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must demonstrate skills in creative problem-solving and attention to detail.

Nonessential skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python, SQL, C++ or R.
  • Familiarity with databases and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of value-based payment models and provider reimbursement principles such as risk adjustment, capitation, FFS (Fee-for-Service), Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG’s), Ambulatory Patient Groups (APG’s), Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APC’s), and other payment mechanisms.
