YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary
Under general guidance, performs a wide range of moderate to difficult activities. Coordinates, directs and maintains the company’s safety & health programs. Makes recommendations and assists in the formulation of company objectives, policies, and plans as they relate to safety & health.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Leads the ongoing development and maintenance of safety and health programs.
  • Lead the effort to conduct safety audits to verify facility compliance with policies, procedures and governmental regulations, assists in formulating and implementing preventative and corrective actions.
  • Maintains a thorough familiarity with Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to safety & health in the chemical distribution industry. Works with facilities to create training material and educate employees on safety & health subjects.
  • Identifies and helps resolve safety & health issues and incidents.
  • Identifies and assists in root cause analysis and the formulation and implementation of corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Assists in the training of employees and customers on safety & health topics.
  • Participates in the investigation of incidents and accidents and cooperates in the preparation of materials and evidence for company’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Leads and, or assists in the compilation and submission of reports, surveys and audits
  • required by regulatory agencies, vendors and customers.
  • Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safety & health.
  • Represents the organization in select community and/or industry groups and programs (e.g. NSC, CAER, NACD).
  • Leads the effort to standardize and maintain safety & health files and records to facilitate compliance and streamline retrieval when required. This includes the management of company’s electronic reporting system.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of both proposed and current safety & health programs that affect the chemical distribution industry.
  • Assesses current and proposed facilities, processes &, products for safety & health issues.
  • Participates in the implementation and promotes Brenntag Pacific safety & health programs and initiatives.
  • Represents Brenntag Pacific in a professional manner.

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English Language.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the chemical distribution business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management and personnel in a professional manner.
  • This includes line employees, managers, outside customers, all levels of regulatory authorities, agency enforcement/inspectors, and auditors.
  • Possess thorough working knowledge of applicable safety & health requirements.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
