At Project NOW, we are looking for an individual with a passion for driving and working with children to join the Project NOW family as a Bus Driver this fall. This individual is responsible for providing safe transportation services to children enrolled at Head Start.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assures that the bus is properly inspected and maintained.
• Schedules and completes regular maintenance and cleaning.
• Keeps accurate records of bus usage.
• Works with monitors and other program staff and volunteers to ensure that all passengers are boarding, seating, riding, and exiting the bus safely.
• Ensures timely transportation of all passengers to and from daily routes, field trips, parent meetings, and other special activities.
• Provides meal service transportation and delivery, as needed.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• Three months of related experience and/or training
• Pass a medical examination certifying you to be physically able to drive a school bus
• Possession or attainment of a valid Illinois Commercial Driver's license (CDL) and current Illinois School Bus Driving permit
• Basic math, written, and verbal skills
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
• Employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Requires the physical ability to sit for long periods of time in a vehicle. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.67 - $16.00 per hour
