The Role at a Glance:
We are excited to bring on a Group Underwriting Assistant to start in January 2023.

As a Group Underwriting Assistant, you will perform and deliver on routine and non-routine new business and inforce assignments independently while applying established group underwriting guidelines and principals. You will assist Underwriters to evaluate employer/employee groups to determine to bid on the risks and set prices on new business and renewals based on target pricing guidelines.
What you'll be doing:
  • Supports and promotes change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives.
  • Delivers routine work independently, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, in a timely manner and meets deadlines appropriately.
  • Makes routine & non-routine decisions, applying limited but increasingly more discretion within role except for matters of significance which affect the business as a whole or a significant part of it, in accordance with established procedures & guidelines.
  • Applies expanded knowledge obtained from the role in increasingly more complex situations and continues to acquire more knowledge to apply in role.
  • Provides a diverse range of information and performs a diverse range of tasks/transactions related to common programs and services.
  • Applies established underwriting guidelines to increasingly complex new business specifications on non-experienced rated cases to determine eligibility and pricing while working within the defined authority level matrix and pricing targets.
  • Obtains needed increasingly complex information by communicating effectively with internal/external stakeholders while maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Escalates underwriting issues/concerns to senior team members (e.g. Sr. Administrator UW, Specialist, UW, Consultant, UW, etc.) and/or management.
  • Recognizes issues or concerns, explains effect on the customer's service experience and suggests process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains internal relationships with assigned distribution offices.
  • Adheres to documentation and reporting expectations.
  • Works overtime as needed.
What we're looking for:
Must-haves:
  • High School diploma or GED or minimum Associate degree in lieu of required experience.
  • 2 - 3 Years of customer service experience and/or other experience within the financial services/insuranceindustry.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Contract Analysis experience
  • Excel experience
