GAP Ministries is seeking a Christ-lead group home manager to oversee and guide one of our SPLASH group homes (SPLASH, Spirit Powered Love Aggressively Shaping Hearts). This team member will manage children's needs including scheduling and attending medical, dental, court and CFT appointments, as well as supervise and schedule staff. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, care-driven professional with extensive experience working in the foster care field who believes in facilitating wellness for children in care and leadership for staff, and has strong administrative, leadership and time management skills.
SPLASH Managers ensure the homes are safe, Christ-centered and engaging for children in care. Managers are part of a management team of pastoral leaders with high expectations for biblical character and values including: honesty, integrity, respect for all peoples, and high levels of trust and regard for teammates. The SPLASH Manager must model for children in care and for all staff, the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
  • Manage and lead the home including children, staff, and all facets of documentation. Maintain calm yet playful demeanor when interacting with children in care. Build trust with children and staff. Create a collaborative environment that values those we serve as well as those who work alongside.
  • Ensure staff schedules, as well as your own personal life, allows for self-care and healthy learning and growth spiritually, emotionally and physically.
  • Supervise and steward a home for the children in care by creating a safe, nurturing environment while teaching basic life skills and implementing positive behavior plans and behavior modifying techniques following GAP’s Behavior Management Plan, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) strategies, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Direct care of children during schedule overlaps, house ‘hand offs’, and when coverage cannot be found.
  • Create and manage the online calendar for appointments, visits, etc. for the house. Staff the house for extra help, night staff, and weekend staff.
  • Manage intake and discharge of children from the home.
  • Maintain children’s case files for state requirements. Forward information to Case Managers as appropriate; daily and monthly.
  • Schedule doctor and dental appointments in compliance with state statute. Also schedule referrals for specialists. Schedule transportation for therapy and visits for children.
  • Ensure menus with related NSLP paperwork and sanitary guidelines are followed as required for safety.
  • Ensure that the home, yard, and vehicles are kept in a safe and clean manner.
  • Agree to flexible hours when needed due to on-going care of children. Manager crisis calls on a rotating schedule.
Must Haves Paid by GAP Ministries upon and during employment:
  • Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • A negative Tuberculosis (TB) and drug screen
  • Successful physical examination (fit for duty)
  • CPR, AED & First Aid Certification
  • De-escalation Certification
Applicant Must Have or Be...
  • At least a high school diploma and 4 years of prior work experience within the foster care or a human services field; preferably have a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and at least 2 years prior work experience in a related field
  • At least 22 years old
  • Documentation to legally work in the United States
  • Able to drive and have an excellent driving record, a valid driver license in effect for at least 5 years, meet the insurability requirements of GAP Ministries, and provide a 5 year safe driving record (MVR)
  • Must have no criminal history disqualifying ability to hold a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Have no substantiated child or vulnerable adult abuse or neglect history
  • Three supportive personal references as well as verification of prior 2 years employment
Helpful Skills to be Successful:
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs; preferably experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail and Google Calendar or similar web-based and computer programs.
  • Be physically fit to perform job duties. Be emotionally able to display warmth and able to enjoy and be comfortable with active, often aggressive and disorganized children in an intimate, integrated living situation.
  • Have manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills.
  • Have personal attitude, conduct and standards representing those qualities and values reflected in the ministry’s mission, vision and core values that children can respect and emulate.
  • Be able to respect and work cooperatively with a variety of persons, including coworkers, members of the board, and representatives of social service agencies, the public, volunteers and parents of the children.
  • Able to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations. Have the ability to stay calm in tense situations and utilize common sense and logic.
