Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards, partnerships, and strategies to provide and create a career pathway for youth, adults, and dislocated workers. Training services include occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and transitional employment opportunities. We provide youth with development, academic instruction, career & technical education, and access to the 14 WIOA Youth Elements. We establish and develop relationships and networks with large and small employers and their intermediaries as well as develop, convene, or implement industry or sector partnerships.

Position Concept

This position provides excellent customer service at all times and facilitates customer use of Resource Room offering guidance as necessary.

Essential Functions

  • Confers with customers by telephone or in person to provide information about CareerLink services.
  • Review customers’ files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
  • Explains CareerLink policies, procedures, and services to customers.
  • Communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address complaints.
  • Determine customers’ needs and recommends/refers them to appropriate CareerLink services or resources based on individual need.
  • Investigates and directs customer inquiries or complaints to appropriate staff members and follows up to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Review available schedule of services and arranges/confirms appointments for customers.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community services and resources available to customers and recommends/refers as appropriate.
  • Creates, maintains, and enters information into databases.
  • Tabulates attendance counts for CareerLink workshops, employer recruitments, and other services, as required.
  • Sets up and manages paper or electronic filing systems, records information, updates paperwork, and maintains documents, such as scheduling, event calendars, attendance records, tracking or other materials.
  • Manages traffic for special events, including meetings, orientations and employer recruitments.
  • Checks-in customers for services, including workshops, testing sessions, orientations.
  • Creates and maintains monthly bulletin board containing timely and pertinent information about CareerLink Center.
  • Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
  • Facilitates customer use of UC Courtesy Phone, maintains order, determines whether claimant demand requires request for call back on second phone from the UC Service Center.
  • Organizes and manages project specific tasks and activities with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Exhibits professionalism, diplomacy and ability to appropriately interact with management, staff and customers at all times.


Position Specifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Experience in customer service preferred.
Skills: Proven ability to exhibit professionalism and work under pressure. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Proven ability to maintain confidential information at all times. Strong organizational skills. Proficient using Microsoft Office products. Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with people. Willingness and motivated to take on additional responsibilities.
Schedule: Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings.
Physical Demands: Requires sitting for approximately 2/3 of each day, ability to move or lift up to 25 pounds.
Other: Must have appropriate and valid state driver’s license. Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
